Alyssa has vivid memories of her mother carrying a camera to capture special family moments, using photography as one of her artistic outlets. Alyssa always appreciated the photographs her mother took because it reminded Alyssa of beautiful childhood memories. Around the age of ten, Alyssa's mother gifted Alyssa her first digital camera and she carried it around with her because she dreamed of being a photographer like her mother.
Alyssa enrolled in her first black and white film photography class her freshman year at Syracuse University, where she learned how to operate a film camera, develop film, and work in the dark room. This process was extremely different compared to the digital  photography she grew up using with her mother. However, film photography instantly became one of Alyssa's passions because it provided a break from the heavily digital world we live in today. It forces the photographer to focus on the moment, take a photo, and move on to the next photo.
